If you take a look at Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered, that game does feature cross-play on all consoles it was released for. There legitimately is no way to host your own lobby and only play with your friends because of this restriction, leaving Unleashed Switch left with you just playing online with randoms. On top of that, Unleashed on Switch doesn't even have the ability to create private lobbies unlike all the other versions. Not as well as the likes of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but regardless, the Switch's hardware limitations make Unleashed perhaps the most underwhelming version out there whether it has optimization problems, Nintendo delaying updates to a few days later, or what have you. Despite that, the game itself runs surprisingly well. The game runs at 30fps, which makes the game feel like a slideshow. A very plausible reason for this is because of the Switch's limited hardware and how the game runs on it. Players that have only bought the game on Switch will be stuck on their handheld/docked Nintendo console for the time being until Milestone manages to add it in at a later date. This update is only for the Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, and Epic Games versions of Unleashed. But there is one console that does not get this update, which begs the question too: where are the Switch players? When I went to the Game Updates page on the official Hot Wheels Unleashed website, there was no sign for Cross-Play being released on the Nintendo Switch version. Sony, Microsoft, and PC players will now be able to play together online. They will also be able to access User Generated Content such as custom liveries and tracks created in Track Builder across all platforms as well.īut with this update, comes with a big problem.

And in this update, drivers will now be able to play with other people no matter what console they are playing on. Milestone, the developers of Hot Wheels Unleashed, have just released their update on cross-play. There's no tl dr version of this post, so my apologies for that. This may be a bit of a biased opinion, but please hear me out.
